Snowless Winter Wonderland

November 20, 2008 under Hopia Encounters

Most travel magazines classify Kunshan as belonging to the northern subtropical and marital monsoon with distinctive seasons abundant with sunshine and rainfall. I don’t know what it means but for a native of a tropical country (i.e. the Philippines), when the temperature going below 10 degrees Centigrade it’s already winter.

This week, the temperature have always stayed below 10 degrees and since yesterday it has stayed at 5 degrees even with enough sunshine. This is the time of the year when you would be cursing the weather and wish it is summer already (but of course, you do the opposite during summer). And the more you hate it because despite the freezing cold weather, there’s no freezing outside. How could you justify the winter weather if there were no snowing outside? Would it be too much of a consolation?

Tifa in the Winter Wonderland

Tifa had been used to cold weather being born in the second half of January when the cold weather in Tagaytay is at its peak so this kind of weather adjustment for her is not that difficult. However, Tagaytay for all I know never had its temperature this cold so this could also be not so easy for her. Yesterday, we tried to have her wear winter gloves (I don’t think they’re mittens, are they?) but the result was quite hilarious. Although she was so excited about it, she could not even hold her milk bottles, her books or anything else.

Since this temperature drop in this week, Tifa never wanted to get out. She won’t even allow the doors or windows open. And even the usual task of having her take a bath has become difficult (for my wife, of course).
